The Canadian garage-punk two-piece Dearly Beloved, keep the rock‘n’ roll flame alive with their new album, Admission. The LP was recorded over 14 days with the duo believing it to be the closest they’ve ever come to capturing the relentless energy they showcase on tour. It's hard to argue with that, as Admission does feel as though it contains the energy of a live recording. There's a lot to champion on this album's 10 songs (34 min, 03 sec). It feels edgy and raw, but there's a subtle polish applied to the recordings that gives it a unique feel. It's a little more rock than 2014's Enduro, and a lot less punk. Personal highlights include the hypnotic 'Who Wants to Know'; 'Currents'; and 'When You Had the Choice'. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
