WaterTower Music releases Lorne Balfe's original score for The LEGO Batman Movie. The album contains 16 tracks (53 min, 31 sec) of rich gothic music, not dissimilar in places to Danny Elfman's scores for Tim Burton's '80s/'90s Batman movies...

There's an interesting diversity to Lorne Balfe's score for The LEGO Batman Movie. As mentioned above, there are gothic elements that pay homage to Danny Elfman's scores for Tim Burton's Batman movies, as well as tracks that reminded me of Balfe's work on the console game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (the middle segment of 'Black' and the middle section of 'Lava Attack' being the two most notable examples).

In addition to the gothic elements, we also have sweet themes ('The Arrival of Robin', which also ends with an eerie segment, and 'The Babs Signal'); and wacky tracks ('Chaos in Gotham' and parts of 'Joker Manor'). There are also a couple of instances where Balfe pays homage to the '60s Batman TV show ('No Seat Belts Required' and 'Battle Royale'), which is a nice little touch.

If I had to chose one track, I'd have to pick the beautiful 'Batman's in the Zone'.

We were only sent Balfe's score for review, but the finished album also includes a number of songs:
