RetroFuture, the debut album release from Ekynoxx, is an electronic concept album. It presents a vision of the future from a number of points of view: the first is a vision of the future as seen from the past, the second is a vision of the future as seen from the present and the third and final one is a vision of the future as seen from the future, because – paradoxically – the moment that we are currently experiencing is already in the past and the next moment is in the future. It's a pretty diverse album offering styles and genres from the '90s Dance scene to more modern approaches and ideas of future music. For example, you can't get around the fact that tracks like 'Surfing On The Rocket' are pretty timeless while feeling fresh and of the moment, with a hint of the future, whilst music like 'Black Rain' sound very similar to the style of music Orbital were releasing in the '90s. The album contains 14 tracks (53 min, 57 sec). It's fun, it's upbeat and it's extremely engaging. Give RetroFuture a chance, the odds are it will grow on you. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
