Holly Macve releases her debut album, Golden Eagle, through Bella Union. With its spellbinding folk ballads and devastating emotional delivery, the album delivers a confidence and maturity you rarely witness with debut releases, especially given she's only 21 years old. Golden Eagle is indeed an impressive debut, and there's no doubt that Macve has a a strong voice, but some may find her laid back, carefree vocals a sticking point. In places she practically mumbles her way through the songs and it's next to impossible to hear the lyrics. As beautiful and captivating as tracks like 'Golden Eagle' are, it comes as a bit of a distraction when you can't fathom what she's singing. The LP contains 10 songs (47 min, 04 sec) and if you aren't distracted by her unique singing voice, then you'll find a lot to enjoy here. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
