Death Waltz Recording Co, release The Devil's Candy original motion picture score composed by Michael Yezerski. The movie follows Jesse, a struggling artist, who moves with his wife and daughter into their dream house in rural Texas, the price driven down by the property’s dark past. Their lives soon begin to unravel as the demonic forces lurking in the house take hold of the young family. Jesse’s paintings take a satanic turn while the family is plagued by Ray, the deranged son of the former owners. Soon it becomes clear that Jesse and Ray are both being influenced by the same dark forces and that Jesse and his family aren’t safe from its former inhabitant or indeed from the devil himself...

Michael Yezerski delivers some impressive atmospheric horror cues for The Devil's Candy. If you're a fan of horror scores then there's much here to enjoy. Personally, while I appreciate the art and love the eerie sounds created by the instruments, these sort of scores are not the kind of music I can comfortably listen to outside of the medium they were composed for.

While in the movie they add a whole new layer of atmosphere, suspense and tension, when listened to in isolation they have no substance. There are no real themes to speak of, just ambient sounds. The only exception is the brief, yet beautiful piano based opening segment of 'The Circle'.

The album contains 18 tracks (37 min, 51 sec) and this is slightly more noteworthy than the norm, as it has an intriguing electric guitar based opening track, as well as some truly creepy segments (most notably 'The Dilemma'; 'The Churge'; and 'Consumed By Fire').

While I'm scratching my head wondering who on earth would listen to this for pleasure, I have to admit that technically this is as near to perfect as an atmospheric cue based score can get.
