Andrew Combs releases his third album, Canyons of My Mind, through Loose Records. The 11-song (44 min, 26 sec) sees Combs put down stakes in fresh sonic terrain. Drawing inspiration from the biographies of literary figures like Charles Wright and Jim Harrison, Combs has created an album that explores the notion of “sustainability” in its many facets - artistic, economic, spiritual, environmental... Andrew Combs is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and his new album shows a diversity and fluidity that only comes with experience. Here he gives, what appears to be, an almost effortless delivery. The songs feel like old favourites even on the first play through. 'Dirty Rain' reminded me of the sort of single Keane used to put out a few years ago, while 'Silk Flowers' feels like a modern John Denver track. But all the songs come under an umbrella that feels comfortable and familiar. If you're looking for a new laid back album, you may have found it in Canyons of My Mind. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
