Varèse Sarabande release Rachel Portman's score for Their Finest, along with ‘pub classics’ performed by the actors, including Bill Nighy’s lilting rendition of 'Will You Go, Lassie, Go'. The movie is set in 1940s London during the Blitz. With London emptied of its men now fighting at the Front, Catrin Cole is hired by the British Ministry of Information as a “slop” scriptwriter charged with bringing “a woman’s touch” to morale-boosting propaganda films... Rachel Portman's score for Their Finest is very similar in style to her work on Dolphin's Tale 2. In addition 'Catrin Grieves' borrows heavily John Williams's main theme from Schindler's List. It's another of her albums where she builds heavily on a handful of intricate themes, weaving them together throughout the tracks. It's subtle and beautiful and certainly a score you'll get many hours of listening pleasure out of. It's also an album you'll come back to time and time again for many years to come. The album contains 19 tracks (35 min, 09 sec). I could probably have done without the "pub classics" performed by the cast, but you can always skip these if you don't like them. It's enjoyable, and certainly amongst one of Portman's finest. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
