Chris Stapleton’s highly anticipated new album, From A Room: Volume 1 is released through Mercury Records Nashville / Decca Records. Stapleton has already made his mark on the UK after popular demand saw the country star perform at high profile events such as Country To Country Festival at the 02 arena. Stapleton's new record comes two years after acclaimed record Traveller... Chris Stapleton's voice is unmistakable and his range is impressive. From a Room - Volume 1 contains 9 songs (32 min, 29 sec). He mines every corner of the Country genre, taking inspiration also for Blues (most notably on 'Death Row'). I have to admit that it wasn't an album I warmed to. I love Stapleton's vocals - he was born to sing Country, but I find the genre to be a little too restrictive. There are obvious exceptions here. 'Last Thing I Needed, First Thing' is of interest for it's modern take, but with a soundscape that's firmly set in the past. Likewise 'Second One to Know' puts a Rock twist into the mix. If you're not a fan of Country music then there's just enough here that may convert you, but Stapleton's fans will love what he's put together. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
