Varèse Sarabande releases Diego Navarro's score for Passage to Dawn (limited to a CD run of just 1000 units). Javier, a young photojournalist, decides to travel to Fallujah (Iraq) as a war correspondent. With a flight leaving 30 December at dawn, he must deal with another conflict before leaving for the war-torn country: his family... Composer Diego Navarro was asked to write, amongst other things, a lullaby in French for the Spanish language film Passage to Dawn. For his score, Navarro reached deep to represent what it would feel like if your son was going to a war-torn region. As well as a girls' choir and a cello soloist (used predominately for the 'Lullaby', Diego also composed the score for a chamber orchestra rather than full orchestra as the film called for a very intimate and emotional score. Middle Eastern instruments and vocals are also subtly incorporated at key points of the score. The album contains 20 tracks (55 min, 43 sec) and represents a beautiful, melancholic score. 'Moonlight' is a performance of Claude Debussy's third and most famous movement of Suite bergamasque - better known as 'Clair de lune' (1890). If you're a collector of intimate, sweet emotional scores then you'll love this. With only 1000 CDs being released, I'd advise you to snap this up as soon as you can. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
