Sony Classical release the soundtrack to My Cousin Rachel with music by Rael Jones. Adapted from Daphne Du Maurier's gothic romance novel of the same name, the film tells the story of a young Englishman who plots revenge against his mysterious and beautiful cousin, believing that she murdered his guardian. His feelings become complicated as he finds himself falling helplessly and obsessively in love with her... Rael Jones turns in some beautiful themes here. The album contains 26 tracks (49 min, 59 sec). There's a flavour of Bernard Herrmann running throughout - most notable in tracks like 'Gallop To The Coast' and 'Suspicion'. But overall it's a strong album that slowly builds both the tension and suspense of the movie. This is another one of those albums that rewards repeat listening as the themes and set pieces slowly work their way under your skin. Not only will this score appeal to those that loved the film, but it works equally well as a standalone album of beautiful set pieces in its own right. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
