Sleep Party People release their new album Lingering. Written, recorded, produced and performed entirely by Danish multi-instrumentalist Brian Batz, Lingering - featuring collaborations with The Antlers’ Peter Silberman & Air vocalist Beth Hirsch - is Sleep Party People’s fourth studio album... Lingering is Indie Pop at its most formulaic. The album contains 12 songs (48 min, 54 sec) which all just merge into one rather dull mass. It could be that Brian Batz has worked himself into a bit of a rut, or that he's got nothing new to say under the Sleep Party People moniker, but this felt like a work in progress Of the LP's 12 tracks (48 min, 54 sec) 'The Missing Step' is the only real track of interest. Despite listening to it on and off for over a month, I found little here that stuck with me. It's fair to say that I'm no closer to getting to know, or enjoy this album now than I was on the first listen. While not a bad collection of songs, it's not ground breaking either. In truth I found it to be a little bland. 5 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
