Randy Newman's original score for Disney·Pixar’s Cars 3 is released through Walt Disney Records. Newman delivers a score that reflects the heart and high-octane action of the film over 21 tracks (50 min, 11 sec). Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage...! If you're a fan of Randy Newman's numerous scores then you'll be pleased, but not surprised, to learn that he delivers another impressive collection of themes with his music for Cars 3. Personal highlights include 'When All Your Friends Are Gone / Crash'; 'A Career On a Wall / Electronic Suit'; and 'The Fabulous Lightning McQueen'. One of the great things about this album is that there are little moments to be enjoyed dotted about the entire score. There's a theme, most notable in 'Drip Pan' that harks back to an era long gone; a musical time in Hollywood Cinema that is a little twee, but still sounds beautiful today. It brought to mind the Disney films of the '40s. It could be my imagination, but I could swear that 'Smokey Starts Training / A Blaze of Glory' pays a very subtle homage to Star Wars. Another interesting Newman score that will delight old and young alike. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
