Tomandandy's original score for The Monster is released through Lakeshore Records. This suspenseful and scary film sees a divorced mother and her headstrong daughter making an emergency late night road trip to see the girl’s father. As they drive through deserted country roads on a stormy night, they suddenly have a startling collision that leaves them shaken but not seriously hurt. Their car, however, is dead, and as they try in vain to get help, they come to realize they are not alone on these desolate backroads - a terrifying evil is lurking in the surrounding woods, intent on never letting them leave... Tomandandy's score for The Monster is a step up from the standard formulaic cut and paste Horror score. Rather than rely on atmospheric music cues, the duo deliver subtle, eerie music that is also, at times, rather beautiful. While not an earth shattering Horror score (there are still examples of bland atmospheric background material), there's enough here to warrant fans of the genre checking it out. The album contains 27 min (1 hr, 12 min, 24 sec) and closes with the song 'My Faith is Strong' performed by Alexa Melo. While this is recorded to sound like it's on a bad gramophone, be warned that you might want to turn your volume down as the distortion on the speakers is a little jarring. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
