Varèse Sarabande release Jeff Beal's latest score for the fifth season of House of Cards... To date, Jeff Beal has delivered season after season of impressive music for House of Cards, so it will come as no surprise to learn that he delivers the goods once again for the show's fifth season. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that this is his most impressive collection of themes to date. Sure, a lot of the main themes are repurposed from previous seasons, but these are such strong themes that he can recycle them endlessly and they'd never get old. This season, it would seem, that secrets play a large part in the score. “I love secrets in stories, and we have some great ones in season five,” said Beal. “Tracks like ‘Infamy’, 'A Note From Tom’, ‘Saved My Life, and ‘Don’t Go Their Way’ all explore the territory of secrets in musical terms. These pieces feel a bit like musical riddles or puzzles.” It's a strong, atmospheric score that is spread out over 2 discs (51 tracks - 1 hr, 43 min, 29 sec). 'Almost There' is one of the highlights. It's an eerie theme that rattles around your head. All the usual themes are here, but Beal approaches and delivers them in a different manor than in previous seasons. If you've been following the show and, more importantly, Beal's music, then you'll love what he delivers here. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
