Varèse Sarabande release Shie Rozow's original score for Jasmine. A year after his wife's murder, once-successful Hong Kong businessman Leonard To is still reeling from the tragedy. Having lost his job, friends and all sense of order in his life, Leonard becomes obsessed with a mysterious stranger he sees at his wife's grave, believing him to be responsible for her death... Shie Rozow delivers an intricate and bittersweet score for Jasmine. It's hard to believe that this is a fully electronic score, as there is a raw emotion that comes through you rarely get with this style of music. It no doubt helps greatly that Rozow employed the use of an electric cello, that has been processed, to give the album its main voice. and it works beautifully. Tracks like 'Surveillance' are hypnotic and get under your skin while pieces like 'Taxi Ride' and 'Jasmine's Theme' pack a lot of emotion. The album contains 21 tracks (46 min, 37 sec) and represents the perfect mix between modern electronic and traditional orchestrated score. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
