Michael Kurek’s The Sea Knows represents an impressive collection of works written with an emphasis on the beautiful and emotive. The works on this release plumb the depths of musical sensitivity and will appeal to anyone who listens to music seeking intimacy and an emotionally-grounded experience... From the very first listen I knew that I was experiencing something special. Michael Kurek's The Sea Knows is a beautiful collection of heartbreakingly emotional pieces. The album contains 5 tracks (1 hr, 06 min, 13 sec). The opening 'Serenade for Violoncello and Harp' is constituted by a single sweeping movement. Melodic materials presented by the cello are built around the expansion of two central themes. These themes, described by the composer as “simple,” are explored and transformed until they become anything but. This melodic transformation, rendered here by Ovidiu Marinescu, exists atop a virtuosic harp tapestry of harmonic filigree admirably played by Rita Costanzi. This is a classical album that will put your emotions through the wringer. There are incredibly highly charged emotional points which are made even sweeter by the melancholic low segments. This is how I like my Classical music fix to be: full of tender, beautiful tracks that stir strong emotions in the listener. This is one album that you'll get years of listening pleasure out of. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
