London-based Laucan releases his debut full-length album FramesPerSecond. The album is packed with a variety of styles which allows Laucan to show off his vocal range rather impressively. This variety of styles will either be the album's strong point or weakest issue, depending on your point of view. Personally I didn't get a real feel for what Laucan was all about and what musical style he was unfolding. Yes, you should champion variety, but when there's no clear overall voice for the album the end result is just a collection of loosely jointed songs. The album contains 10 tracks (37 min, 17 sec) and while I enjoyed it, I found it a rather disengaging and heartless project. It's certainly not an album I'll be revisiting in months or years to come. 5 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
