Sony Classical release Tom Holkenborg's original score for The Dark Tower. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black, determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. The fate of the worlds is at stake – good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black... It's scores like this that makes me grateful that I started collecting movie soundtracks from the early '80s. Over the year's I've heard some incredible and beautiful scores and come across some composers that I know will almost always provide music that appeals to me. Tom Holkenborg's score for The Dark Tower is one score I know I'm going to get many years listening pleasure out of. How do I know this? Well for starters there are so many intricate themes here that it will take me several months to just get aquatinted with them all. Even on a first play there were tracks that I knew would make their way onto my favourites playlist. I think it's the diversity, for me, that makes it such an engaging score. There are some gorgeous pieces of music here. Personal highlights over the course of this album's 29 tracks (1 hr, 06 min, 44 sec) include 'The Dark Tower'; 'Arrival in Mid-World'; 'The Creed'; 'Tall, Dark and Handsome'; 'It Will Fall'; 'Collateral Damage'; and 'Roland of Eld (Main Titles)' If you're a collector of deep, rich and multi-layered scores then you're going to really have something to sink your teeth into here. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
