Sony Classical release the original motion picture soundtrack of Tulip Fever featuring music by four-time Academy Award nominee and Grammy Award-winning composer Danny Elfman. The movie is based on the best-seller novel by Deborah Moggach, and follows a married woman in 17th century Amsterdam, who begins a passionate affair with an artist hired to paint her portrait. The lovers gamble on the booming market for tulip bulbs as a way to raise money to run away together... Danny Elfman's music for Tulip Fever is intimate and subtle, with plenty of beautiful themes running throughout its 18 tracks (42 min, 51 sec). There are also more upbeat tracks, like 'The Streets' which appear to pay homage to the style of classical music of the period, whilst not making it blindingly obvious. The score is a wonderful cross between score and classical music - as you'd expect considering the movie's setting. For those who love intricate and emotionally charged beautiful scores, then Tulip Fever will make a welcome edition to your collection. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
