Lakeshore Records and Invada Records release Nick Cave and Warren Ellis's original score for Wind River. The movie is a chilling thriller that follows a rookie FBI agent who teams up with a local game tracker with deep community ties and a haunted past to investigate the murder of a local girl on a remote Native American Reservation in the hopes of solving her mysterious death... I wasn't sure whether I enjoyed this score the first few times I listened to it. While I was impressed with the overall vibe, I wasn't convinced there was enough variety to make it an album worth adding to any score collector's music library. If you strip it down to the basics, it's a score of background, ambient music. It took about half a dozen plays to truly begin appreciating the subtle themes that Nick Cave and Warren Ellis had conjured up. The album contains 23 tracks (44 min, 33 sec) which do slowly grow on you - even if a few of the themes are revisited a little too frequently. Fans of the film will love this, as will those that enjoy subtle, mellow ambient scores. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
