Raised in a musical family, Lukas Nelson learned early on that true originality is hard won. Blessed with a measure of musical ability imparted by his father, country music legend, Willie Nelson, it’s clear that Lukas’ gifts have likewise been honed by a singular devotion to craft and a deep appreciation for the sacrifice an artistic life requires... Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real is a mesmerizing, deeply soulful, endlessly rewarding work. The album contains 12 songs (53 min, 54 sec) and the net is thrown far and wide. We have familiar sounding tracks like 'Just Outside of Austin' (which could so easily have been a Country standard from the heyday of the genre), to more modern songs like 'Four Letter Word' and 'High Times'. It's pretty remarkable really that this feels like a modern take on an old and comfortable genre: not only have they managed to capture the feel of days gone by, but it's brought kicking and screaming into the here and now. Willie Nelson raised his son well, and I have no doubt he is immensely proud of what he has achieved so far. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
