The first album from Web Web, Oracle, is uncut, raw, live and direct. The initial idea behind the album was to record a spiritual jazz style album, with all its imperfection as far as intonation, sound, influences and tunes... taking inspiration from their jazz-heroes from the '70s (e.g. Strata East, Black Jazz). Web Web’s initial idea was to record a jazz jam session and then release it to the world as a lost gem from the '70s. However there was one problem with this: they wouldn't be able to tour or do press interviews, so they came clean, revealing their true identities... Web Web are: Roberto Di Gioia (Piano, Synth, Percussion), Tony Lakatos (Tenor- and Soprano saxophone), Christian von Kaphengst (Upright Bass) and Peter Gall (Drums). You can't beat a bit of classic, old school jazz... and on the first play through I couldn't help thinking to myself how fresh and raw everything sounded. It was only after reading the press information that I discovered that the entire album was recorded in a single day and only the first take was used in a bid to capture he energy and spirit of a live performance. And it's blatantly obvious that they've managed to achieve this magnificently. Oracle contains 13 tracks (59 min, 25 sec) of pure retro sounding perfection. This is like a long forgotten treasure. It's certainly an album serious lovers of the genre will embrace. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
