Varèse Sarabande release Steven Price's score for American Assassin. The movie follows the rise of Mitch Rapp, a CIA black ops recruit under the instruction of Cold War veteran Stan Hurley. The pair are enlisted by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy to investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on both military and civilian targets. Together the three discover a pattern in the violence leading them to a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent to stop a mysterious operative intent on starting a world war... Steven Price's score for American Assassin isn't really one that works quite so well outside of the movie it was composed for. While on balance there are a few interesting themes, there's not too much here to get excited about. The score contains 14 tracks (51 min, 43 sec) with 'Mitch Rapp' being this album's one standout piece. The opening ('The Proposal') and closing ('Katrina') tracks are also worthy of note. The rest of the music is not a million miles away from the sort of music you'd expect from a modern Call of Duty game. lt's not a bad score, but then it doesn't exactly offer anything that new or engaging. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
