Reverend and the Makers release their sixth studio album, The Death Of A King. The follow up to 2015's Mirrors,.. Fans of Reverend and the Makers may find their new release a bit of a departure from their previous album. The biggest strength here (or weakness, depending on your point of view) is how incredibly diverse it is. On a plus side this means that you're bombarded with a lot of very different sounds and styles, which makes for an interesting listen. On the negative side we don't get a clear feeling for the band's identity. The album contains 12 songs (36 min, 24 sec) and while it's an enjoyable listen, it takes a long time to finally warm to it. I did enjoy its diversity, and the fact that each time I listened to it I found something new to like. Others, however, may find that the band have spread themselves too thin. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
