The Remedy Club, the Irish husband-and-wife Americana/Roots duo comprising KJ McEvoy and Aileen Mythen, release their debut album Lovers, Legends & Lost Causes via High Flying Disc Records. The most noteworthy aspect of this LP, other than the way the duos very different vocal style compliment each song, is just how wonderfully diverse the tracks are. It's a slow burner, while you're likely to enjoy a lot of the tracks on the first play through, it's only on repeat listens that the songs start to take shape. 'Bottom of the Hill' had elements that reminded me of an old Jimmy Barnes single (although sadly my memory can't quite place which one, even though I quickly skipped through all of the albums of his I could still find - it's been a long time since I listened to any of his music). There are elements of Country, Blues and Americana woven throughout the album. It's worth spending a little time getting to know this interesting duo. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
