Varèse Sarabande release Nitin Sawhney's score for Breathe. For his directorial debut, Andy Serkis brings to life the inspiring true love story between Robin and Diana Cavendish, an adventurous couple who refuse to give up in the face of a devastating disease. After a fairytale-like courtship, Robin is struck down by polio at the age of 28, confined to a hospital bed and given only a few months to live. With the help of Diana’s twin brothers and the groundbreaking ideas of inventor Teddy Hall, Robin and Diana dare to escape the hospital ward to seek out a full and passionate life together - raising their young son, traveling and devoting their lives to helping other polio patients... Given the movie's plot, it's not overly surprising that Nitin Sawhney delivers an emotional roller coaster of a score. Tracks like 'After First Bleed'; and 'Telling The Doctor It's Time' really tap into the emotional heart of the film. Over the course of the album's 29 tracks (41 min, 21 sec) there are a number of interesting themes, the most prominent being housed in tracks like 'Meeting Baby Jonathan', which is a strange theme. It's partly sweet, and a little bit disjointed. It feels like it doesn't belong, but it's memorable and haunting. 'The Last Dream' (performed by Tina Grace and Jonathan Christie) is the album's one song, but the tune is echoed throughout the album. On balance it's a wonderful romantic score that will stay with you for a long time to come. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
