Sony Music release the soundtrack for The Foreigner, which showcases music by Cliff Martinez. The film is a timely action thriller about a humble London businessman Quan, whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love - his teenage daughter - is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official, whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers... I'm not a fan of background atmospheric scores full of music cues, so I really didn't get on with Cliff Martinez's score for The Foreigner. Technically flawless, this is music designed to be heard in the movie and not really listened to without the visual images. The album contains 15 tracks (46 min, 06 sec) of not overly interesting music. This is designed for one thing only - to add atmosphere and another level to the film, which it no doubt does wonderfully. It's just that it sounds a little dull when listened to in isolation. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
