Lakeshore Records, in conjunction with Invada Records, release the double album Stranger Things 2 - Original Netflix Series Soundtrack. The double album features the original score by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, members of the Austin experimental synth band S U R V I V E. In Stranger Things 2 it’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived... The soundtrack release for the second season of Stranger Things may be a little confusing for some. We've already had a Stranger Things: Volume 2 score release (the second volume of music from the first season) and on top of that, if you buy this release through iTunes you'll pick up a load of additional tracks (15 to be exact). This release contains 34 tracks (1 hr, 11 min, 21 sec) or 44 tracks (2 hr, 02 min, 09 sec) if you buy the iTunes special edition). Personally it did nothing for me. Yes, technically it has a wonderful retro sound and so is perfect for creating a nostalgic feel to the series, but it's incredibly dry and very bland when listened to on its own merits. It's not a score I'd want to listen to for pleasure and is certainly one best heard for where it was originally intended. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
