Justin Melland's score for The Force is released through Lakeshore Records. This documentary goes deep inside the long-troubled Oakland Police Department as it struggles to confront federal demands for reform, a popular uprising following events in Ferguson, MO, and an explosive scandal... The score for The Force lasts for 37 min, 42 sec (coming in at 16 tracks) and while you can clearly tell that it will work well in the documentary (even it you haven't seen it the themes are punchy) it's not really one that works too well when listened to in isolation (which it was never intended to be anyway). If you're a documentary filmmaker this will hold a lot of interest, as it covers a vast array of themes and moods. It's just not on overly easy listen for anyone else. It's atmospheric and technically interesting, but it's not a score you can sit and listen to comfortably on its own merits. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
