Marvel Music/Hollywood Records release Mark Mothersbaugh's score for Thor: Ragnarok. In the movie Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok - the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization - at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger - the Incredible Hulk... Given the movie's premise I was a little surprised to discover that Mark Mothersbaugh's score for Thor: Ragnarok was a little too atmospheric. It's interesting enough, but it's certainly not what you'll be expecting from a super hero movie. This is either a good or bad thing depending on your view point. Listening to the score over and over, over the course of a few weeks, I have to confess that it's not one I'll be wanting to dig out in the future to listen to again. It contains 23 tracks (1 hr, 12 min, 51 sec) with the only notable track being the opening 'Ragnarok Suite'. It's a strictly by the numbers score that is perfect for the movie, but is a little flat when listened to on its own merits. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
