Lakeshore Records release the original soundtrack to Furious (aka Furious: The Legend Of Kolovrat) composed by Serj Tankian). The movie is a Russian historical fantasy film set in the 13th Century which follows the Ryazan knight Evpaty Kolovrat - the leader of a seventeen-man squad who defend against thousands of Mongol warrior hordes and their leader Batu Khan. Tankian incorporates sweeping sounds of a large orchestral ensemble, bombastic percussion, soaring choir, traditional folk instrumentation and attacking metal guitars to match the action packed tone of the film... Serj Tankian does not disappoint with his score for Furious. The album contains 34 tracks (1 hr, 17 min, 15 sec) and pretty much covers all bases, delivering an epic action adventure score that pulls no punches. There are numerous highlight on this album, but worthy of note are 'Are They Really Ours'; 'Sail'; 'Death of Kolovrat'; 'Shoulder to Shoulder'; In fact, it seems the music just keeps getting more impressive the further through the score you travel. What helps greatly is the different approaches used throughout. So we have soaring choir set pieces (that rival any serious choral work you've heard), buffeting up against sweeping orchestral themes. The next minute an electric guitar takes centre stage. It's all so subtly planned that everything beautifully grows into a huge body of work. If epic. sweepingly bold scores are your passion then you'll find plenty to engage with here. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
