Silva Screen Records release the soundtrack for Blue Planet II, the latest BBC natural history epic, narrated by David Attenborough. A sequel to the 2001 series Blue Planet, it took four years to complete this seven part new exploration of the underwater worlds, with 125 expeditions across 39 countries and 6000 hours of underwater filming... The score for Blue Planet II is credited to Hans Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music's Jacob Shea and David Fleming. I'm assuming that Zimmer composed the main theme, with Shea and Fleming delivering the bulk of the score. Overall, it's a good solid soundtrack with a lot of intricate themes. The album consists of 19 tracks (1 hr, 11 min, 21 sec) with personal highlights including 'Family Theme'; 'Albatross Flight'; 'A Forest Awakens'; and 'Walrus - The Right Piece of Ice'. There's the spirit of Danny Elfman's score for Edward Scissorhands running through tracks like 'Walrus - The Right Piece of Ice'. As you'd expect, there's the odd, fun and quirky track. In this instance that's the upbeat 'Turtle Spa'. There isn't a dull track here. No atmospheric background filler music, just beautiful, memorable segments of music that will bring hours of listening pleasure. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
