Lakeshore Records release the soundtrack album to Killing Gunther, which features an original score by composer Dino Meneghin. In the movie Gunther (Arnold Schwarzenegger), the greatest and most arrogant hitman, has earned the ire of the killer community. Now a group of up-and coming but dysfunctional assassins try to advance their careers by offing the most infamous exterminator of all time. Their master plan quickly turns into a series of embarrassing fails. As Gunther is on to them before they know it and he makes it his personal mission to make their lives a living hell... Dino Meneghin's score for Killing Gunther starts off promisingly with the James Bond-esque 'Gunther Theme Suite'. At the halfway mark on this track it switches to the sound of a German fair complete with accordion and other traditional instruments. The rest of the album is a bit of a mixed bag of styles and bizarre themes. There are some good solid action themes, like 'Finding Feizmark' but then we have weird dance based tracks like 'No Place To Go (Gabes Theme)'. Then there are the more interesting, reflective pieces like 'Blake's Package'. In addition, Taylor Killam contributes two Rock based tracks to the album, 'Jump the Gun' and 'Criminal Mind'. On balance it's like a slightly watered down James Bond score. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
