Rough or Smooth sees Abel getting down and dirty with his experimentation of electronic music. In some ways, this is a timeless release that could have been issued in the '90s or 30 years from now. Part Ambient, part Dance album, this is a trippy, heady mix of styles that doesn't out stay its welcome.

It's a relaxing and fun album, but depending on your point of view it's either a little cliched, or refreshingly familiar.

Personally, while I enjoyed this, it's not the sort of album that I'd put on to party with these days... back in the '90s I'd have totally loved it.
