Varèse Sarabande release the 24 Hours to Live original motion picture soundtrack. The album features original music composed by Tyler Bates and includes Marilyn Manson’s 'God's Going to Cut You Down', a traditional hymn previously popularised by Johnny Cash and Odetta, as a special album-only bonus track. It's a fast-paced action-packed movie about a career assassin who is given a chance at redemption after his employer brings him back to life temporarily after being killed on the job... Tyler Bates delivers a strictly-by-the-numbers score for 24 Hours to Live. There's nothing wrong with the music, far from it, it's just that it's not really an album that was ever designed to do anything other than heighten the tension and action in the film. It's certainly not a score that works as a standalone project (which is hardly surprising). The album contains 20 tracks (56 min, 48 sec) of atmospheric background music cues. If you're into that sort of thing, then fill your boots. Marilyn Manson’s version of 'God's Gonna Cut You Down' is interesting, but it's not worth buying the album on the strength of that track alone. 4 Darren Rea Buy this item online
