Rupert Gregson-Williams original score for Paramount Television's The Alienist is released through Lakeshore Records. The show follows Laszlo Kreizler, a brilliant and obsessive “Alienist” in the controversial new field of treating mental pathologies, who holds the key to hunting down a never-before-seen ritualistic killer murdering young boys... The score for The Alienist doesn't really work that well as a standalone album. Of the soundtrack's 24 tracks (1 hr, 04 min, 21 sec) there wasn't that much I was overly impressed by. 'Dr. Laszlo Kreizler' was probably the exception, as it houses an interesting theme. Sadly, the rest of the score is pretty lifeless. It's a shame, because I know it works incredibly well in the show... it's just not overly interesting to listen to on its own merits. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
