Alice Ivy's new album, I'm Dreaming, is old school beat music at its most chilled. Over the course of this LP's 11 songs (36 min, 17 sec) Ivy uses countless samples and beats you'll have heard a million times before, but she has a flair for mixing them to create a unique blend that makes the whole experience feel fresh and modern. The first half of the album is a little more old school Dance oriented. It's not until around halfway through the LP, 'Charlie' sees a slight shift towards tracks that really get into your head. If you're not humming this one for days afterwards then you're probably dead inside. Likewise, 'Bella' is a memorable track which is also hypnotic and dreamy. There's some interesting collaborations with artists including Georgia Van Etten, Bertie Blackman, RaRa and Georgia Van Etten. While it might not be an album you'll be playing next year, for now this is engaging and enjoyable. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
