Transangelic Exodus

Artist: Ezra Furman
Label: Bella Union
RRP: £13.99
Release Date: 09 February 2018

Ezra Furman releases his second album for Bella Union, Transangelic Exodus. The album has a thread, or story running through it. According to Furman: “The narrative thread is I’m in love with an angel, and a government is after us, and we have to leave home because angels are illegal, as is harbouring angels. The term ‘transangelic’ refers to the fact people become angels because they grow wings. They have an operation, and they’re transformed. And it causes panic because some people think it’s contagious, or it should just be outlawed."

Using the current state of the world the album addresses numerous issues that people face on a daily basis. However, Transangelic Exodus is not an easily digestible or accessible LP... This is a slow burner that will grow on you the more you consume it.

Listen to it, put it aside, pick it up a few days later and listen to it again... Repeat until you're playing it constantly and can't get enough. The album contains 13 tracks (42 min, 25 sec)

It's probably a release that will divide his many fans. Give it time... it's worth it.
