Lovers of Fusion will find much to enjoy in oboist Margaret Herlehy new album for Big Round Records, Rosewood Café. The album represents an interesting collection of Latin-inspired jazz, focusing on the oboe as the central instrument in each composition... There's plenty of diversity to discover in Rosewood Café, which not only gives the listener a rich and vibrant experience, but also showcases Margaret Herlehy versatility as an oboist. The album contains 9 tracks (35 min, 56 sec) with notable tracks including 'Choro Negro', which on first listen brings to mind Brazilian, or even French music. But as it progresses it shifts and changes to become something totally different. 'Café 1930' also allows Herlehy to really showoff her versatility. And 'Diabinho Maluco'; is a flute and oboe duet that's a cross between J.S. Bach’s great instrumental suites and modern Latin dance - if you can imagine such a thing. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
