WaterTower Music release Cliff Martinez's original score for Game Night. Max and Annie's weekly couples game night gets kicked up a notch when Max’s charismatic brother, Brooks, arranges a murder mystery party, complete with fake thugs and faux federal agents. So, when Brooks gets kidnapped, it’s all part of the game… right? But as the six uber-competitive gamers set out to solve the case and win, they begin to discover that neither this game - nor Brooks - are what they seem to be...

Game Night is a comedy movie, but listening to this score you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a dark and brooding thriller. Cliff Martinez is not renowned for composing comedy scores, so the dark elements he conjures up no doubt work well to help play the comedy straight.

While technically this is an interesting theme, the use of old school synths was a bit of a turn off for me. On balance it didn't make for that much of an interesting listening experience. I'm afraid that this is a score that is best heard inside the movie.

Technically perfect for the movie, sadly lacking as an album in its own right.
