Lakeshore Records release the Marcella original series soundtrack with music by composer Lorne Balfe. Set in contemporary London the series centres on the psychological struggles of a Metropolitan police officer at a crisis point in her personal life. Returning to the Met’s Murder Squad after a 12-year career break, Marcella is immediately assigned to one of her old cases that she first worked on in 2003. A spate of recent killings has occurred, all carrying the same hallmarks as those unsolved murders committed over a decade ago. Has the killer re-appeared or is this a copycat murderer...? Lorne Balfe's score for Marcella is intriguing, but as a standalone project is not as engaging or memorable as some of his previous work (13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi; American Hero; Assassin's Creed III; Beyond: Two Souls; The LEGO Batman Movie; Penguins of Madagascar; Salinger). Tracks like 'What Would I Do Without You' are eerie and build well, but the majority of the score is a little flat. While it's perfect for the series, it just doesn't work all that well as a standalone album of music. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
