Varèse Sarabande release Garth Stevenson's original score for Chappaquiddick. The film tells the untold true story surrounding the scandal and mysterious events of Mary Jo Kopechne drowning as Senator Ted Kennedy drove his car off the infamous bridge... Perhaps not surprisingly, given the plot of the movie, this is a subtle, atmospheric score that is multi-layered. It's a stripped back and at first sounds a very shallow score, but it hides much depth and beauty. Garth Stevenson has done an incredible job of delivering a melancholic, reflective collection of themes which appear effortless and simplistic, when in reality they're anything but. Listen to tracks like 'Apollo' and you can't help smile at the attention to detail. It ends with a simple note which gives way to a well used space ship interior instrumentation sound. The album contains 16 tracks (46 min, 51 sec) and is a master class at delivering a complex and emotional score that feels so effortlessly put together. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
