Masaé Gimbayashi-Barbotte releases her latest album, which sees her performing pieces from Chopin, Debussy, Harizanos, Bosc, Mozart as well as delivering a number of improvised tracks. Gimbayashi-Barbotte (La Lune, Midsummer Nocturne) give us an interesting balance of pieces on this 16 track (1 hr, 12 min, 52 sec) recording. Sadly there were no detailed notes on why she chose these particular pieces. It's not overly important, but it would have been interesting to learn what each piece meant to her and the background to the improvisational pieces (what was she trying to covey through each of them?) This is yet another wonderfully produced album with some interesting choices. Fans of the piano will cherish this beautiful release.
