Marvel Music/Hollywood Records release the digital deluxe edition soundtrack to the Avengers: Infinity Wars with music by Alan Silvestri. Spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, the movie brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe... Alan Silvestri does what he does best: delivers a powerful, super charged score of epic set pieces, whilst still managing to craft plenty of beautiful, reflective themes. He also manages to drop in a brief (concentrate or you'll miss it) homage to his work on the Back to the Future trilogy in the track 'He Won't Come' (at the 0.42 sec mark, if you're interested). The deluxe edition contains 30 tracks (1 hr, 56 min, 14 min) compared with the standard edition which has 23 tracks, and checking online the difference in price is just £2. I have to admit that I was a little lazy and didn't strip out the additional tracks first to see if the standard version of the album felt tighter or if the deluxe edition seemed a little repetitive, because on the first play through (and subsequent ones for that matter) I couldn't hear any atmospheric filler material that was included to bulk out the album. With that in mind, I'd definitely opt for the deluxe edition if you're a fan of Silvestri's work. While it doesn't deliver anything new or exciting (were we really expecting that with a Marvel superhero movie) it's still a good, strong album with plenty of meaty themes to get your teeth into. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
