Sony Classical release the various artists soundtrack to Overboard. The movie focuses on Leonardo, a selfish, spoiled, rich playboy from Mexico’s richest family and Kate, a working-class single mom of three hired to clean Leonardo’s luxury yacht. After unjustly firing Kate and refusing to pay her, Leonardo falls overboard when partying too hard and wakes up on the Oregon coast with amnesia. Kate shows up at the hospital and, to get payback, convinces Leonardo he is her husband and puts him to work - for the first time in his life... First things first... What on earth possessed anyone to remake Overboard (1987). While it was a fun enough movie when it was released, it certainly isn't a film that need a fresh perspective. This various artists album is also a bit strange. It feels like someone just slapped a bunch of tracks together so that they could bunk off work early. I'm not sure how they play out in the movie - whether they're briefly in the background; very prominent; or not used at all - but I can't imagine anyone seeing the movie and thinking: "Hey! That's great. I must pick up the album". But then if you are that person, you'll be in heaven. A rather odd and not very enjoyable album.
