French multi-instrumentalist Halo Maud has released her debut album, Je Suis Une île ("I Am An Island"), on Heavenly Recordings. Hailing from the French proggy, psychedelic and experimental pop scene that birthed Melody’s Echo Chamber, Moodoïd and cult label La Souterraine, Halo Maud's ethereal songs flit between English and French language, focussing on notions of freedom and power through a wild and playful lens... Halo Maud's debut album is strikingly confident, bold and playfully engaging. The 12 track (43 min, 44 sec) LP opens with the memorable 'Wherever', which is the perfect song to suck you in. Other notable highlights include the hypnotic 'Chanceuse'; psychedelic Pop track 'Surprise'; the dreamy 'Tu Sais Comme Je Suis' For a debut album you really can't fault this. It's a light, Indie Pop album that grows on you the more you listen to it. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
