Award-winning singer-songwriter Jack Carty and former Papa vs. Pretty bassist Gus Gardiner release their new album, Hospital Hill. The ten-song collection (38 min, 43 sec), is a reflection of their individual and combined skills, magnified throughout by a stellar string quartet that includes members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra... Hospital Hill represents a laid back collection of songs. The opening track, 'Facing South' gets off on the right note. It's engaging and memorable and in many ways starts off as an intimate acoustic track before bringing in the Australian Chamber Orchestra. In fact, that's one of the themes that is echoed through the album; it's almost as though they're playing a private concert for you in the comfort of your own home. It's raw and very slightly rough around the edges - by which I mean it sounds natural and not produced within an inch of its life. The end result is an enjoyable collection of songs. This is a Folk album that's more Indie than it is Folk; an album for those that aren't normally fans of Folk music. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
