Tony Award Productions and Broadway Records have released the second annual Tony Award Season compilation album. Each musical from the 2017-2018 season, including the 2018 Tony nominated musicals, were invited to contribute a song to this new compilation album. There are also bonus tracks to represent this year’s Tony lifetime achievement honorees, Chita Rivera and Andrew Lloyd Webber...

For Musical fans who want to keep up on the current season of productions, the 2018 Tony Award Season provides an interesting cross-section of shows. It also acts as a taster for shows you may have missed. Did you avoid the SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical because you thought it might not be your thing? After you listen to '(Just a) Simple Sponge' you may decide that it's worth picking up the full album.

As you'd expect, it represents a wonderful mix of shows and it was particularly warming to see 'I Could Have Danced All Night (from My Fair Lady: 2018 Broadway Cast Recording) and Michael Crawford's performance of 'The Music of the Night' from The Phantom of the Opera make an appearance.

Sadly, there's one slightly off key singer on 'Do the Work' (from Prince of Broadway) which spoils the entire song a little.

A wonderful album that no Musical fan should be without.
