MovieScore Media release the original score to the Australian sci-fi film Alpha Gateway, with music by Thomas E Rouch. Co-written and directed by John V. Soto, the film tells the story of Jane Chandler (Jacqueline McKenzie), a particle physicist grieving over the loss of her husband Matt (Myles Pollard) who had died in a car crash. Or had he? When Jane travels to a parallel world, she finds him again, but the initially joyful discovery will have dire consequences for her family... Thomas E Rouch is not a composer I'm overly familiar with, but if his work on Alpha Gateway is anything to go by, I'll be looking out for his future project. It's quite an impressive album, containing 22 tracks (1 hr, 01 min). It's an ambitious electronic score that incorporates a number of beautiful themes, not to mention suspense pieces ('Cat and Mouse' being the most notable). It's an atmospheric score with a heart and some good solid themes to get behind. Overall, it's a soundtrack that just manages to stand on its own two feet, making it a collection of tracks that work pretty well outside the movie they were designed for. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
