Sony Classical release the soundtrack to the movie Puzzle, with original music by Oscar® and Golden Globe nominee Dustin O'Halloran. The film tells the story of Agnes, who, taken for granted as a suburban mother, discovers a passion for solving jigsaw puzzles that unexpectedly draws her into a new world, where her life unfolds in ways she could never have imagined... Dustin O'Halloran's score for Puzzle is a sweet, at times melancholic score that packs some beautifully mellow themes. The compositions were written to offer up a chamber sound consisting of piano, string quartet, harp and woodwinds. This, O'Halloran states, he settled on so as not to intrude upon the performances of the actors. And, in a similar process to some of James Horner's scores, O'Halloran transformed one of the main themes into the score's closing song, 'Horizons', sung by Ane Brun. The score contains 16 tracks (30 min, 34 sec) and while it's a little on the short side, it more than makes up for this in quality. If I had one slight complaint, it's that there is one theme that's a little overused, but otherwise this is a wonderful score. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
